Period Conversion of Two Properties, Southwark
Tucked away on a quiet street in Southwark, London, and forming part of a Grade II Listed terrace, this project involved the sensitive conversion and transformation of two tired period properties into five high-end residential apartments.

The brief was to preserve and celebrate the architectural character of the existing buildings while introducing a contemporary layer of design, creating sophisticated homes that respond sensitively to their historic setting. The design approach carefully balances original period features with modern interventions, ensuring the development feels both timeless and distinctly contemporary.

A considered approach to the external architecture allows the properties to sit comfortably within the existing terrace, while carefully designed internal alterations maximise natural light, space and functionality. Contemporary elements have been introduced where appropriate, creating a subtle contrast with the historic fabric and giving each apartment its own individual character.

Design & Specification
The interiors have been conceived to a high level of detail, with bespoke elements throughout. Individually designed kitchens and fitted wardrobes provide practical storage while maintaining a refined, cohesive aesthetic. Luxury bathrooms feature high-quality finishes and carefully considered detailing, complemented by bespoke wall and floor finishes throughout the apartments.

Underfloor heating and integrated air conditioning provide year-round comfort, while home automation and a comprehensive lighting design enhance both functionality and ambience. Bespoke fireplaces introduce a strong sense of craftsmanship and help reinforce the relationship between the contemporary interiors and the properties' period origins.

Floor-to-ceiling glazing has been incorporated to maximise daylight and create a stronger connection between the interiors and their surroundings. The addition of a carefully designed mansard further enhances the available accommodation while maintaining a sympathetic relationship with the existing architecture.
